Kristen Chenoweth

Stuff You Need to Know Before I Tell You About my Crisis:
1.  I love Idina Menzel more than I love 90% of the people I know. She is like a mother to me. If she showed up at my door in the middle of the night and said, "hop in the van." I would do it. But- I really just want a hug from her.

2. Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel were both in Wicked on Broadway in 2003. Let's assume they've hugged at least once.

3. I found out Kristen Chenoweth is coming to Tennessee to sing Christmas carols and other songs.
1ST JAW DROP MOMENT

4. If I got a hug from Kristen Chenoweth, it would be like a secondhand hug from Idina Menzel. Boom.

5. If I heard Kristen Chenoweth sing, it would be a secondhand vocal hug from Idina Menzel. Bam.

MY CRISIS:
6. I begged my mom to go, and she said no after days of pleading. Pleading.
FIRST TIME THE LITTLE SPONGEBOBS IN MY HEAD BAWLED.

7. I've gotten over the sadness, and then my grandma - MY VERY OWN FLESH AND BLOOD GRANDMOTHER - announces that she can't wait until Tuesday when she will go so Kristen Chenoweth sing.
SECOND TIME THE LITTLE SPONGEBOBS IN MY HEAD BAWLED.

My Stepdad Nolan

Nolan. Nolando47.
I wanted more nicknames but I don't know any.

"What?" you may be thinking, "Why is she writing about her stepdad?"
Well, this is why:

Act One Scene One:

(FADE in on a brightly lit living room. Nolando47 and Melissa Ming are seated on a couch. ENTER Addy.)

Addy: Mom! I don't have anything to write my blog about!

Nolando47: Write about me.

Melissa Ming: (simultaneously) Write about Nolan.

(EXIT Addy)

As you can see, I have decided to write about Nolan my stepdad because it is my last resort. My brain is shut down. Boom. Nothing.

Some facts about Nolan:

He talks like he's from Chicago, because he is from Chicago.

He has seen Chicago the musical.

He eats all our food.

He is intuitive.

He is a city Building Codes Inspector. Wait. That was wrong but his new job is too long to type.

He runs very quickly and he has muscles that don't match his small body type.

He puts way too much stuff in his hair every morning.

His hair is gray, but he's not that old.
Don't ask me.

I have been informed he is 40 years old. Let's give him a round of applause.

Nolan is my stepdad. Sometimes I wish he was my primary parent instead of my mom. She told me to add that.

Nolan is 5'9! WOW! That's tall!

His hairline is receding more and more every day.

And now a quote from the man of the hour himself, Nolan Ming:

"The Bears."

ME + LOVING YOURSELF

This is an open prompt, and I don't really have anything to write about, so I'm going to talk about something I love. The thing I love is me.

First, though, I want to start off by saying that one of the best things you can do is love yourself. Everyone has imperfections and you should be happy about being you! Self love will help give you a healthier mind and better attitude. Some people will call you conceited, but it is important to remember that you are not being conceited or putting anyone else below you by just appreciating yourself!

Okay, a few things I want to say about myself are
1. I love musicals.I love them. Music that tells a progressing story told with beautiful voices just really appeals to me, and I love the feeling I get when I ,myself, perform under golden lights in front of people.

2. I love snakes, dinosaurs( specifically pterodactyls), dragons  , the cool dragons that live in the desert and squirt blood out of their eyes, lizards, geckos, and axolotls(pink ones).

3. I am a Slytherin in the Harry Potter world.

4. I think everyone should be themselves and do whatever is best for them as long as they don't hurt anyone else. There is no reason to spread negative emotions around.

That is about it for this post, as I'm super tired and need to study. BYe!

MISOGYNY

Misogyny

This is one topic that really infuriates me. To begin, if you don't know what misogyny is, the dictionary definition is, "Dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women." Basically, misogyny is thinking that women are worth less than you simply BECAUSE  they are women. This has been going on forever, and this needs to stop. You may think, "So what? I'm not hurting women." If you are a misogynist, you ARE, in fact, hurting women.
Women are still paid 78 cents per a man's dollar (That's white women by the way; women of color are paid even less). IT'S 2015.  This is ridiculous and pointless. Also, women are constantly getting catcalled on the streets (I'm not saying women are NEVER catcalled, but it's much more likely for a woman to get catcalled). I am 13 years old and I've been catcalled by a man with white hair. That is disgusting and terrifying. Also, women get raped and tried unfairly. First of all, they shouldn't be getting raped, but it makes the situation worse when all the news talks about is the "promising future" the RAPIST had before he committed a crime. It is the rapist's fault. He should not have raped this woman. It comes off as if they are thinking and saying, "Who cares about this emotionally and physically traumatized girl who is going to take months to recover, fear other sexual areas in her life, possibly get PTSD, feel unsafe around men for the next 2o years, etc. That is saddening. It is hard to believe that we live in a world that still treats women this way. I get angry every time I think of  my future grandchildren being blown away after learning these facts about today's society.

The Sign

Respond to this question: What is the “sign that came down from the world of grown-ups” and what could it symbolize?

The "sign that came down from the world of grown-ups" was a parachute and a body from the plane. I think this symbolizes the enormity of the situation being out of the boys' control and the deadliness of the situation. Death is obviously represented by the dead person, and the sheer sight of a dead body made the boys worry. This is when you think the boys' would realize that it is time to get down to business so we can survive, yet they didn't want to seem frightened, so they pretended there was nothing to fear. They also realized this was, even if they didn't want to admit it, just the beginning of bad things to come. This symbol, finally, represented the start of their journey on their own.The end of one thing is just the beginning of another, neither necessarily being good things. 165 The real question for the boys was, "Is this island going to be a good thing; will it change us for the better, or for the worse?"

Wearisome of LIfe

“He found himself understanding the wearisome of life, where every path was an improvisation and a considerable part of one’s waking life was spent looking at one’s feet.”

I have interpreted this quote to mean that he realized
many people don't know what they're doing in life, which is clearly understandable, so they improvise, take risks, splash in the rain puddle that is life, but never put confidence in the fact they don't know what they're doing. This makes them feel sheepish, embarrassed about their cluelessness, when the reality is no one else knows what they're doing either. The end result is a bunch of wild people running around, feeling worried about their life when there is no reason to be. My response to this is: If you're going to splash in the rain puddle, do it with your head held high.

Views on Life, Violence, Power, and Control

"After reading Chapter 4, have your views about life, violence, power, and control changed since the beginning of the book? Discuss and explain using examples from the book."

After reading Chapter 4, my views on life in general haven't changed much, only because the book captures a lot of obscure views that I could take on, but not all. Personally, I think a book that could capture every view on life would be impossible to write, but this book certainly makes a good effort. I already understood this is how people become when they lose structure: bloodthirsty, animalistic, and barbaric. This is just a given. However, my views on how quickly the need for power, violence, and control can escalate have definitely changed-in a bad way. The boys sense of responsibility and rationality quickly evaporate once they spend a few nights on the island, leaving them in the midst of chaos that they created. They will soon learn how hard it is to return to a normal life after being subjected to this type of terror. Or will they?

Dear Auntie

    Dear Auntie

  Dear Auntie,
First and foremost, I want tell you that I love you. The plane I was on crashed and I can't seem to figure out where we- the other boys on the plane and me- are. We are counting on someone to come rescue us, as we can not survive here forever.
Second of all, I want to tell you about what we do to survive. We climb trees and pick colorful fruit; the fruit is tasty but cannot cure my hunger alone. We eat crabs, if we can catch them. We even caught a pig! I did not taste much of it, but my piece was delicious. Speaking of the pig, that brings me to another point. The boys here...well, they aren't nice at all. No one here treats me as an equal. Also... the boys... they seem to be losing their ability to rationalize and use common sense. None of them care about anything but being reckless and wild, and, quite frankly, I fear for my life.
If this letter reaches you, I want you to know that I am terribly grateful for everything you have done for me. I know I can be a crybaby sometimes... and I appreciate you treating me like a person with ideas and strengths, especially when everyone else refuses to.
                                                                                                     Love,
                                                                                                        Your nephew

"What Would Your Life be like Without Grown-ups?"

If all of the adults disappeared off of the face of the earth, what would my life be like?

A world without adults would take some adjusting to, and it would definitely have it's ups and downs.
For instance, this would be a good change, because it would sweep out all of the restricting, traditional mindsets that have been forced upon our generation. It would also be a good thing because children would learn how to do things on their own more quickly than if adults were around to 'baby' them.
Nevertheless, this new world run by children would definitely have some negative effects.
We would all have limited education, and have to rely on books to teach us things that could be easily taught to us by adults. Also, the most worrisome problem is the fact that children might not want to keep learning, exploring, and creating new ideas, which would leave us in a shell of a world, filled with 5th-grade education and diets of frozen chicken nuggets. That would be bad.

"Sometimes people are born with disabilities, but it's communities that handicap them."

"Sometime people are born with disabilities, but it's communities that handicap them." -Anonymous

I agree wholeheartedly with this quote. Leaders of the community often look through the eyes of the mentally and physically able. The disabled understand the problems they themselves face better than anyone else, yet looking at the community from their standpoint is rarely considered when making important decisions.
When leaders of the community tailor the community to the people in it, they sometimes don't stop to think about anyone outside the mentally and physically able spectrum. This leaves the understood importance of making the community an equal place for everyone vanish. For example, people with disabilities have a hard time getting things like healthcare, and are often discriminated against.
Another important thing to mention is society's expectations for disabled people. Far too often, people set the bar extremely low the second they hear someone is handicapped. What most people don't realize, is that even though they have disabilities, disabled people are still capable of many, many, things. We tend to count the things they cannot do before we count the list of things they can.
In conclusion, disabled people are just as much of they community as able bodied and minded people are, and they should be given an equal chance to prove what they can do.
