“He found himself understanding the wearisome of life, where every path was an improvisation and a considerable part of one’s waking life was spent looking at one’s feet.”
many people don't know what they're doing in life, which is clearly understandable, so they improvise, take risks, splash in the rain puddle that is life, but never put confidence in the fact they don't know what they're doing. This makes them feel sheepish, embarrassed about their cluelessness, when the reality is no one else knows what they're doing either. The end result is a bunch of wild people running around, feeling worried about their life when there is no reason to be. My response to this is: If you're going to splash in the rain puddle, do it with your head held high.
