Dear Auntie

    Dear Auntie

  Dear Auntie,
First and foremost, I want tell you that I love you. The plane I was on crashed and I can't seem to figure out where we- the other boys on the plane and me- are. We are counting on someone to come rescue us, as we can not survive here forever.
Second of all, I want to tell you about what we do to survive. We climb trees and pick colorful fruit; the fruit is tasty but cannot cure my hunger alone. We eat crabs, if we can catch them. We even caught a pig! I did not taste much of it, but my piece was delicious. Speaking of the pig, that brings me to another point. The boys here...well, they aren't nice at all. No one here treats me as an equal. Also... the boys... they seem to be losing their ability to rationalize and use common sense. None of them care about anything but being reckless and wild, and, quite frankly, I fear for my life.
If this letter reaches you, I want you to know that I am terribly grateful for everything you have done for me. I know I can be a crybaby sometimes... and I appreciate you treating me like a person with ideas and strengths, especially when everyone else refuses to.
                                                                                                     Love,
                                                                                                        Your nephew
